1. What are personal data?

Personal data means all kinds of information that can be directly or indirectly attributed to a living natural person. For example, images (photos) of individuals that are processed on a computer can constitute personal data, even if no names are mentioned. Encrypted information and various types of electronic identities, such as IP addresses, are considered to be personal data if they can be linked to natural persons.

2. In what cases do we process personal data?

Meyer Logistics processes personal data on the basis of Article 6 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Article 6 of the GDPR stipulates the following situations, among others, in which personal data can be processed:

  • if the data subject has given consent to processing 
  • if processing is necessary for the performance of a contract between Meyer Logistics and the data subject 
  • if processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which Meyer Logistics is subject 
  • if processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by Meyer Logistics

4. Our website

Purpose / Legal basis of data processing: 

When you visit our website, the browser on your device automatically transfers the following information to the server of our website:

  • IP address of your terminal
  • Date and time
  • Name and URL of the downloaded file, the website / application from which the access was made (referrer URL) 
  • Information on your browser and operating system 
  • Your device and your Internet Service Provider (ISP)

The information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file for the following purposes:

  • Ensuring a trouble-free connection 
  • Evaluating the system's security and stability 

The legal basis for processing the IP address is Article 6 GDPR (legitimate interest). The legitimate interest of Meyer Logistics is based on the above-mentioned purposes of data processing.

Recipients / Categories of recipients:

Meyer Logistics will only transfer data to companies of the group to which Meyer Logistics belongs and only to the extent necessary for the fulfilment of the above-mentioned purposes.

Period of storage / Criteria used to determine the period of storage:

The data are stored for a period of 7 days and then deleted automatically. The geolocation information is deleted once you leave our website.

5.1 General information on cookies

The use of cookies on meyer-logistics.se is based on Article 6 GDPR (legitimate interest) and serves to enable Meyer Logistics to improve your user experience on the website. Purpose / Legal basis of data processing:

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service of Google Inc. ("Google"), to continuously adapt and optimise the design of our website. The legal basis for this is Article 6 GDPR (legitimate interest). The cookie creates pseudonymised user profiles and then generates the following information about your use of the website:

  • Type and version of the browser and the operating system
  • Referrer URL (the last page you have visited)
  • IP address of the device
  • Time of the server request

This information is used to evaluate the use of the website and to compile website activity reports. In addition, the information is used to provide services for the purpose of market research and for the individual design of the website. The IP addresses are anonymised to ensure that identification is not possible (known as IP masking).

After anonymisation of the IP addresses, the information generated by the cookie is transferred to and stored on servers in the U.S. Your IP address will by no means be associated with any other data held by Google. Period of storage / Criteria used to determine the period of storage:

After anonymisation of the IP address, the data can no longer be linked to a person. Google Analytics deletes the data processed for statistical purposes after a period of 26 months. The reports created by Google Analytics no longer contain any links to real persons.

5.3 How can you control the use of cookies?

Your browser or device usually allows you to change the settings for the use and the extent of cookies. For example, you can choose to block cookies or delete them after closing your browser. Please note that some functions of our website may not work properly if you choose to block cookies.

The following information on data protection applies to you when you contact us during contract negotiations and/or if there is a contractual relationship between you and us and we process personal data in this context. The information we process depends on the agreed services, which is why not all parts of this information may be relevant to you.

How do we collect personal data and what categories of personal data do we use?

As a rule, we only collect those personal data which are transferred to us.

However, it may be necessary to process personal data we receive from other companies, authorities or other third parties, such as credit agencies, tax authorities or the like. These may also include personal data we obtain via our information channels concerning possible compliance breaches or in connection with compliance investigations.

Purpose / Legal basis of data processing:

Performance of a contract (point (b) of Article 6 (1) GDPR)

The purpose of the processing is to take measures that are necessary to enter into a contract and to subsequently meet the obligations under the contract entered into.

Compliance with a legal obligation (point (c) of Article 6 (1) GDPR)

Your personal data may be processed for the purpose of complying with a legal obligation. Such legal obligations include compliance with retention and identification requirements, for example in the context of anti-money laundering, tax-related supervisory and notification requirements and data processing in the context of requests from authorities.

Pursuit of legitimate interests (point (f) of Article 6 (1) GDPR)

It may be necessary to process your personal data beyond the actual performance of a contract. In these cases, legitimate interests include selecting appropriate business partners, asserting legal claims, defending against liability claims, physical and data access control, investigating compliance breaches, preventing criminal acts and settling claims arising from the business relationship.

Upon entering into the contract, we sometimes collect information on your solvency via credit agencies. Such information is used to assess your creditworthiness. Within our company, your personal data are transferred to those departments that need them to comply with contractual or legal obligations or to pursue legitimate interests. Within the scope of contractual relationships, we also employ processors or service providers that may have access to your personal data. In these cases, we ensure that the data protection regulations are observed by concluding data processing agreements.

Period of storage / Criteria used to determine the period of storage:

The personal data are stored by Meyer Logistics as long as necessary for the fulfilment of the above-mentioned purposes and in accordance with the applicable retention requirements.

Are you obliged to provide personal data?

Within the scope of our business relationship, you are obliged to provide those personal data which are necessary for the establishment, performance and termination of the business relationship and for compliance with the associated contractual obligations. You are also obliged to provide those personal data which we are legally required or authorised to collect on grounds of our legitimate interests. Without these data, we are usually not able to enter into a business relationship with you.

7. Recipients outside the EU:

Any transfer of personal data to recipients outside the European Economic Area (EEA) only takes place if the European Commission has confirmed that the third country ensures an adequate level of protection, if an adequate level of protection is ensured (e.g. by means of EU standard data protection clauses) or if you have given us your consent.

According to Article 15 GDPR, you have the right to obtain free-of-charge information about your personal data processed by Meyer Logistics (unless the request is manifestly unfounded or unreasonable). This includes the following information:

  • the recipients or categories or recipients to whom the personal data have been or will be disclosed 
  • the envisaged period for which the personal data will be stored or, if not possible, the criteria used to determine that period

Where personal data are transferred to a third country, you have the right to be informed of the appropriate safeguards relating to the transfer.

8.3 Right to rectification pursuant to Article 16 GDPR

You have the right to obtain the rectification of inaccurate personal data or to have incomplete personal data completed.

8.4 Right to erasure pursuant to Article 17 GDPR

You have the right to obtain the erasure of personal data concerning you where one of the following grounds applies:

  • the personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected 
  • you withdraw your consent on which the processing is based and where there is no other legal ground for the processing 
  • you object to the processing pursuant to Article 21 (1) or 21 (2) GDPR and there are no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing 
  • the personal data have been unlawfully processed
  • the personal data have to be erased for compliance with a legal obligation

Meyer Logistics is also responsible for taking appropriate measures to ensure that other controllers erase your data if the above-mentioned conditions are met.

8.5 Right to restriction of processing pursuant to Article 18 GDPR

You have the right to obtain from us restriction of processing where one of the following applies:

  • You contest the accuracy of the personal data 
  • The processing is unlawful and you request restriction of processing instead of erasure 
  • Meyer Logistics no longer needs the personal data for the purposes of the processing, but you require them for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims
  • You have objected to processing pursuant to Article 21 (1) GDPR pending the verification of the legitimate grounds of Meyer Logistics 

8.6 Right to data portability pursuant to Article 20 GDPR

You have the right to receive the personal data you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and the right to transmit these data to another controller where:

  • the processing is based on consent pursuant to Article 6 or Article 9 GDPR and
  • the processing is carried out by automated means

If you exercise your right to data portability, you have the right to have the personal data transmitted directly from Meyer Logistics to another controller, where technically feasible.

8.7 Right to object pursuant to Article 21 GDPR

According to Article 21 (1) GDPR, you have the right to object to the processing on grounds relating to your particular situation.

This right applies to processing based on point (f) of Article 6 (1) GDPR (legitimate interest).
